Information on Personal Data Processing
By means of this document, we, as a controller of personal data – the company ŠKODA AUTO a.s., tř. Václava Klementa 869, Mladá Boleslav II, 293 01 Mladá Boleslav, Identification No.: 00177041, registered in the Commercial Register kept by the Municipal Court in Prague under Section B, File No. 332 (hereinafter referred to as “ŠKODA AUTO“) – provide information on personal data processing related to single sign-on identity for the on-line environment of ŠKODA AUTO and your rights related thereto.
Purpose of the processing:
Provision of single identity within ŠKODA AUTO on-line environment and eventually within third parties’ environment.
Description of the purpose of processing:
We process your personal data in order to provide you with the highest comfort when using our services, applications, internet websites and their features including ŠKODA AUTO portals. Thus, we provide you with single sign-on identity for your use of our services.
Currently, we use the personal data after you sign in:
- at ŠKODA Connect App;
- websites of ŠKODA AUTO and/or its importers in multiple countries and/or subsidiaries of ŠKODA AUTO;
- mobility solutions applications of ŠKODA AUTO and/or its subsidiaries;
- online sales website, ŠKODA e-shop and/or similar e-commerce portals;
- various website applications such as car configurator; and
- any other digital services and/or applications.
In the future, we may extend the use of single identity, so-called “ŠKODA ID”, also in connection with other applications, website, services or other touchpoints. Your personal data are used in order to pair your data into single identity according to particular personal data and then used to provide you with the above services.
Legal basis of the processing:
We will process your personal data to fulfill our promise to render the services you requested (i.e. to provide our performance within the contract established under the ŠKODA ID Terms of Use, which you may accept when you sign up to the on-line environment of ŠKODA AUTO for the first time). It is upon your choice to accept the Terms of Use as well as to terminate the Terms of Use as provided therein.
You must be at least of 16 years of age to use ŠKODA ID. The digital services of ŠKODA AUTO are focused on individuals with vehicle relation and associated age. By requiring a minimum age, we make sure that digital services are used only by those persons, on whom the digital services are focused. Furthermore, such setup complies with legal requirements of special protection of individuals under the age of 16.
Once the Terms of Use are terminated by either party or once the validity of Terms of Use expires, we keep information collected during the validity of Terms of Use in our legitimate interest for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
Categories of the personal data we process:
Identification data, contact details including your postal and e-mail address and phone number, your dealer preferences, information on mutual communication and interaction, product technical data such as vehicle identification number and your license plate number and a profile picture, provided you opt for adding a profile picture into ŠKODA ID.
Processing and archiving period:
Your data is processed primarily for the duration of our contractual relationship established under the Term of Use. Your data may either be deleted afterwards or we may keep certain data for maximum period of 6 additional years in our legitimate interest for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims. If we are legally obliged to store or retain information for a longer period (e.g. due to statutory retention periods), we may do so in line with our legal obligations. After your account is closed, deletion of certain data will not take place before outstanding transactions, for the settlement of which such data is still required, are completed.
The aforesaid contractual arrangement will terminate upon your request to close your account or upon our termination of your account if allowed pursuant to the Terms of Use. Notably, you have the option of closing your user account via the "Account settings" option at the ŠKODA ID Portal.
Your account will also terminate in case of your long-term inactivity. You will be notified that your account will soon be deactivated and archived after 4 years and 6 months from your last activity. Unless you actively react to the notification, the account will be deactivated and archived after 5 years of inactivity. Please note that the aforementioned keeping of personal data for establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims may also occur in case of termination of your account due to inactivity.
Categories of data processors or recipients to whom we may provide the personal data:
In order to allow us to render the requested services to you, we will engage certain external parties to support us in our processing of your personal data. Most notably, your personal data will be processed on our behalf by the entity hosting the service, namely Volkswagen AG, Berliner Ring 2, 38440 Wolfsburg, Germany, registered in the Register of Companies of the Brunswick District Court under No. HRB 100484, as well as Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, Business ID: 352 2789 0057, 38 Avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855, Luxembourg as well as other external parties that support us in relation to our IT processes.
If you use ŠKODA ID in connection with a third party service, the data will also be passed on such parties, but only if this is absolutely necessary for your use of the third party's service.
Upon request, in order to fulfill legal obligations, your personal data may further be provided to public authorities, in particular to courts, the Police of the Czech Republic and other law enforcement agencies to the necessary extent and within the boundaries of law.
Source of the personal data:
We receive the personal data directly from you, if you fill in such data when asked to or as you use the services.
Transfers of personal data to third countries or international organizations:
As part of the above-mentioned processing, your personal data will not be transferred to any third country outside of the European Economic Area or international organization.
Automated decision-making based on the personal data:
During the processing of your personal data, no decision-making based solely on automated processing, including profiling, occurs.
Other information:
Personal data may be archived in the public interest and used for scientific, historical or statistical research purposes. In well-founded cases, personal data can also be the subject of processing for the purposes of legal matters resolution, including the performance of obligations towards public administration bodies and monitoring and ongoing evaluation of legal risks.
What are your rights?
As a part of the personal data processing, you have the following rights:
- Right of access to personal data processed.
- Right to terminate you single identity account as per the Terms of Use or to disconnect any ŠKODA or third party service from the possibility to use ŠKODA ID. For example, you have the option of closing your user account or disconnect any aforesaid service via the "Account settings" menu on the ŠKODA ID Portal.
- Right to request correction of incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete personal data or erasure of personal data in the case of cessation of purpose and legal basis or in the case of unlawful processing. You may view, amend or delete your personal data entered in the user account using the "Personal Data" and "Contact" menu options.
- Right to request restriction of the data processing.
- Right to extract your personal data in machine-readable format for yourself or for another controller.
- Right to object to the data processing, if you believe that the processing of personal data is unlawful.
- Right not to be the subject of automated decision-making.

In connection with the exercise of your rights, ŠKODA AUTO may charge a reasonable fee taking into account the administrative costs for the processing when requests from you as a data subject are apparently unfounded or excessive.
